The Rockledge Steelers Under-16 Ladies Organization - 2 sets of coaches and 2 teams united by the belief that young female athletes deserve a quality environment that promotes learning, playing and having fun. All players on both the Region B Cup team and the State Cup team receive quality training based on individual and team developmental needs. Various training opportunities are provided such as small group training, goalkeeper training and speed, agility and quickness training. We believe that team chemistry must constantly be promoted. The coaching staff places a strong focus on developing talented individual players and strong teams while always striving to present an environment that fosters the love of the sport.

Bill Buren, US Youth Soccer Coaching Staff, Joins Steelers State Cup Team as Full Time Trainer (posted May 16, 2009)

Tryouts are May 28th from 6:30p - 8:30p and May 30th from 3:00p - 4:30p at the Community Park of Rockledge (398 Gus Hipp Blvd, Rockledge, FL 32955).

The Rockledge Steelers ‘93/94 Black state cup team is pleased to announce that Bill Buren will be training the team for the 2009 year. A true teacher of the game, Bill brings an unrivaled level of coaching and training to the team. As a member of the US Youth Soccer coaching staff, Bill’s knowledge of teaching combined with his soccer relationships across the country and around the world offer the team a top class coaching experience. We are so proud of our success over the five years of this team’s existence. Each and every year has seen the team and the players grow and develop. We believe in a never ending path of ascension; we always strive to be better. Having Bill train the team will bring the team to the next level.

We offer a positive soccer environment for female athletes and we are searching for the right players to add to our team. We are proud of our record of teaching soccer techniques (how to do it...) and tactics (what to do...). Our practices will develop the players’ physical conditioning simultaneously with technical and tactical development. And all of this combines to develop soccer players who can make decisions and demonstrate mental strength; important qualities on the soccer field and even more so in the game of life.

Playing Abroad

We would like to finish our U16 year with a trip to Argentina. Bill has taken many teams to Argentina and would like to travel with our team to play against the developing Argentinean women’s program. Bill’s contacts in Argentina have been asking for a top girls team to travel to their country for games. This fantastic experience would give our players an opportunity for some great soccer and an occasion to learn about a different culture.

Steelers Narrowly Miss State Cup Round of 16 (posted April 5, 2009)

After beating Wellington 2-0 and falling to Blackwatch 0-1 in the first round of the 2009 FYSA State Cup tournament, the Rockledge Steelers moved on to the second round in Holiday, Florida. Scoring first aginst the Jacksonville Fury, the Steelers gave up two goals on fouls losing to the Fury 1-2. The next day found the Steelers again scoring first against FCA Kumba. Unfortunately, Kumba answered with a goal of their own and a second goal beating the Steelers 2-1. Congratulations to the Steelers for playing so well at state cup scoring 4 goals and conceding 5 over two weekends of play.

Steelers Build Chemistry in "Ties That Bind" (posted February 28, 2009)

For the second year in a row, the Rockledge Steelers participated in an all day "Ties That Bind" program at the ropes course in Palm Bay. The Steelers spent the morning with problem solving and leadership activities focused on trust and building strong relationships. After lunch, the team put on safety harness and climbed the rope course 30 feet in the air. The coaches strongly believe that "chemistry" is a verb and this course is part of the program to build a strong team.

2008/09 Rising U15s Prepare For A New Season (posted May 30, 2008)

Tryouts are June 4th, June 6th and June 10th from 5:30pm until 7:30pm
at the Community Park of Rockledge.

The Rockledge Steelers '93/94 Ladies played an exciting 2007/08 season and are preparing to do it again. We took big steps last year forming two teams. With 30 players to start the season with, we worked hard pouring our hearts and souls into our two teams. From small group sessions to academey sessions and finally to team sessions, we worked hard. We brough in various soccer experiences for the team including training with the University of Tampa NCAA II National Champion players. Our goalkeeper training is the best in the area. Our focus on players' technical and small group tactical skills development is first class.

Our state cup team Steelers Black played in 6 tournaments including the FYSA State Cup competition. Steelers Black is to be commended for developing a quality possession style of play. Steelers White played in two tournaments and impressed everyone with the tremendous quality of play and team development.

We offer a positive soccer environment for female athletes and we are searching for the right players to form our teams. This will not be an easy task; but we are compelled to do so for several important reasons. First, our current players are very important to us. We care about their ABILITIES and mental confidence as soccer players as well as their ATTITUDE and character as young ladies. Second, every young player who wants to play soccer should have that opportunity. Yet we know that players will develop soccer skills at different rates and that players will have different passions for the sport. Thats why we have two teams that work together and support each toher. We want to provide a quality soccer program for all of these young female athletes. And finally, we believe there are enough players in and around the Rockledge area that want a quality soccer environment and who are willing to put forth the EFFORT and make the necessary commitment for a competitive team.

ATTITUDE - EFFORT - ABILITY

We doubt there are very many teams with the quality of players we have. Our team is over three years old it is amazing to experience the great ATTITUDE of these young ladies at every practice. And that's the first thing we look for and ask of our players - ATTITUDE. It's the most important criteria for our team. And to watch these young ladies play, you would understand EFFORT. No matter what the outcome of the game, these ladies show that they have heart. And finally, one of our highest priorities is ABILITY. The development of well rounded soccer players; players who learn the technical and tactical parts of the game. And players who learn to love the game.
