Soccer in Jamaicaposted Monday, June 15. 2009 The Rockledge International coed team is looking for 2-3 players to travel to Jamaica this summer from July 11 through July 18 and play a series of friendlies against Jamaican teams. The base of players travelling are U16 through U20. Last year we went to the Turks and Caicos Islands, this year Jamaica. Rockledge U-12 Girls Move to the Big Fieldposted Wednesday, May 27. 2009 The 96/97 Rockledge Girls U-12 team recently concluded their careers on the 8v8 field with 3rd place finish at the BYSL comp playoffs on May 17th. Four evenly skilled teams participated and all games were decided by one goal. The Steelers lost a tough fought first game 0-1 to the Indian River Vipers, who would later lose to Melbourne Beach in the championship on penalty kicks after a scoreless regulation. The Steelers faced an old rival in the 3rd place game going up against Megu Fusion. After giving up an early goal, the Steelers charged back to take a 2-1 victory and capture the 3rd Place trophy. The Steelers finished the tournament with 2 wins and 2 losses. The Steelers defeated the Infinity Soccer Club 3-1, Tsunami Rip Curl 6-0, and after a hard fought game fell to Apollo 2-4. The U10 Steelers Black team players are Mathew Austin, Alex Darvas, Zachary Gilbert, J.J. Bryant, Evan Hasbrouck, Pryce Jennings, Olivia Simmons, Ryan Stofflet, Christian Yates, and Jared Zayas. Building on the success of our first season of the Youth Development Program (YDP), we are looking forward to the spring YDP. We will continue our focus on player development and love of the game. Players will continue to train together (by age group) under US Youth Soccer nationally licensed coaches. One improvement we are making is the creation of field groups. About 10 players will be assigned to a specific field group which will have a lead Game Day Coach. This will facilitate the Game Day Coaches working with the players on a more individual basis. This assignment may be changed once or twice during the season. We will continue a player-centric game day format without fixed teams. Please see our YDP page for further details.

Sunday Pick-up Games
And just to remind everyone, there is usually a pick-up game every Sunday at the Community Park of Rockledge. Play starts around 5:00pm. This is a great opportunity to play some soccer, make some new friends and visit with your old friends.
Board Meetings
The Rockledge Soccer Club Board usually meets the third Tuesday of every month. All club members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The meetings are held at the Rockledge Fire Department at Barton & US-1.

- On Tuesday, CONCACAF announced a provision that allows any team participating in the FIFA Confederations Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the same year to expand its Gold Cup roster from 23 to 30 players. The provision was provided due to the extreme circumstances that teams face due to playing in back-to-back tournaments.

- I had just ended my sophomore year at the University of Nebraska and, like most people, I had no idea that the World Cup for women would create such an attraction. It was my first World Cup participation as a Canadian National Team member. Being a part of such an energized historical journey, I went from competing against the USA women, to admiring my opponents. I found myself becoming the fan watching each game with great anticipation. In the final when the USA won, it was the first time that I honestly experienced pride for “my competitors”.
